Creative Costume Ideas

Accessories are often times pretty inexpensive and when paired with your own clothes (or clothes you find at thrift stores). You can throw an outfit together that's totally unique and fun!

Decoration on a Stick!

The tables will be themed and this is Alice's table name card. (Hey- Aunt Sharon and Grandma Wanda do you want the table name card bigger than this?) The tables also serve as teams, so the table's theme is also your team name for games!! FUN games, with prizes fit for Wonderland...

Paper Mache Semi-Secret Project Continues!

We are making something for my favorite part of the party. Charlotte and her friends are helping add another layer of Paper Mache.

Although the actual dinning and game tables are quickly becoming my favorite part too... FUN!!!!

Envelope ...Good and Bad

So we had an invite 'catastrophe'. Some, actually most, of the invites we mailed out needed extra postage probably because of our cute 'eat me' mints made the envelope thicker than normal and/or maybe because I glued adorable printed pictures to the envelopes. Mod Podge (glue) is heavy stuff! lol.

We mailed them in a rush with uneasy feelings in the first place over not including a return address on the envelope. We are hearing that many of the envelopes upon arrival were stamped postage due but I haven't yet heard of anyone actually needing to pay the extra postage. The lady at the post office said sometimes they don't mess with it and just want to get it delivered because they have so much returnable mail anyway, It sounded like since these don't have a return address they just forward them on through but if they had a return address we would have gotten them all back. Thank the Red Queen we didn't get them all back. That's GOOD, no great. I can't handle that kind of re-do project. I'm up to my eyes in projects. (You bet I would have redone all of those envelopes so it didn't read return to sender with a big wagging shameful pointing finger!) So if you had to pay extra postage I'm truly sorry and I'd rather not know so I don't have to be embarrassed anymore than I already am. :) Graciously I've mostly heard people telling us how cute they are and not much about the postage! ;) So it didn't turn out to be a catastrophe, but rather a memory and lesson learned. Now if that's the worst thing that goes wrong we'll be in awesome shape. I think there are still a few invites that need to be mailed. Yikes.

I feel like this TOTALLY adds to the unpredictability of Wonderland! What happens will happen and what won't just won't...

Planning Meeting

We had a planning meeting today with Grandma Wanda and Aunt Sharon. We all showed off our thrift store finds and what we were currently making. Grandma Wanda picked up AN AMAZING addition to my oyster bar and with her mad bargaining skills talked the guy down from 45 dollars to $15. That's my grandma alright. She's relentless!!!

Then we had to talk business. We needed to talk about set up, tables, themes and GAMES!!! And prizes! Of course there shall be prizes.

It's becoming more and more apparent that we were made to throw such a wildly creative and even silly party. We are quite mad and love doing this!

Without giving too much detail away (but after the party ALL the details will be here -I'll post photos) we discussed having games during the mad tea party and hors d'oeuvres, which is planned before dinner and dancing. We definitely want games and we settled on the idea that it would best to have character named tables, and each table becomes a team. We have great ideas and plans for this! And prizes! And silliness, and nonsense...oh there is always silliness and nonsense in Wonderland.

Paper Mache

I was just working outside on the big paper mache project for Charlotte's party. It's going to be an animal. I just haven't said what animal yet.

This week Charlotte is going to a summer dance and afterwards having a couple of friends over for the night. In the morning we will work on some decorations! So I better make sure I have some some supplies. Im not going to lie...life is crazy busy!

The chickens wanted a flour-goop snack

I'm going to be honest, I have no idea if this thing we are making is really going to turn out. I have high, high hopes though and a tiny bit of nervousness. You can kinda see what we are using as our base...it's a Halloween decoration. LOL.

It's Frankie all stuffed and tied up:
This is one of the weirdest projects I've ever thought I could pull off.

In other news: thank goodness the invites will go out tomorrow. Thank goodness! I'm so tired and busy!

Freak Out

We are trying to get these invites in the mail. So. Much. To. Do.
I don't know how we are going to get it all done! And start school!

I need more supplies. I need a big frame of some kind, tape, 5lb of flour and 40lbs of newspaper.

Painting decorations is going well. I've painted about 6 or 7, I think. I lost count. I painted my brains out, that's all I know. I need walrus supplies. I need us to get these invites out first!!!! We'll post them on here once they are mailed.

Am I kissing Dee or Dum?

Alice Party Decorations Underway

So first when we plan a party we come up with a theme. Charlotte picked Alice in Wonderland. Next we   need a decoration plan. Lots of them. Enough to fill an entire dance hall and adjoining bar. We have come up with about 4 main big decoration projects to make. Ceiling decorations, table center pieces, posters/characters and a rabbit hole. The scenes so far will be garden, The Walrus and the Carpenter, Red Queen, Tea Party...and some others! I can't give away to many secrets though :)
